- End: Monday, August 2nd 2021 at 10am PDT
- Week 2 Nameless Scarlet Witch (Classic) – Start: Monday, August 2nd 2021 at 10am PDT
- End: Monday, August 9th 2021 at 10am PDT
- Week 3 Nameless Hyperion – Start: Monday, August 9th 2021 at 10am PDT
- End: Monday, August 16th 2021 at 10am PDT
This special quest will be broken down into three different difficulties to give all our Summoners an opportunity to try.
Play the Gold Difficulty to compete and qualify in the 2021 Summoner Showdown Tournament!
The Gold difficulty is meant for the toughest Summoners of The Contest, meaning that you must be Level 60 and Thronebreaker in-game (i.e. completed Act 6 Chapter 4 “Succession”, and Ranked Up 1x 6-Star Champion to Rank 3). To give our Summoners as much equal opportunity as possible, you can only use 5-Star Champions available on your roster to fight the Bosses.
Note: You will not be able to use Boosts that would affect your ability to qualify into the Semi-Finals of the Tournament. If you are found to be using Boosts/Consumables your score will not be officially recorded. Any players found cheating and/or breaking the Marvel Contest of Champions Terms of Service will result in their accounts being permanently suspended.
The Qualifiers will be broken down into three rounds, with each round lasting one week (as listed in the schedule above). Upon the completion of each Qualifier Week, potential winners will be contacted to move on to the Semi-Finals. One Summoner from each region (Americas, Europe & Russia, Asia & Oceania) will be selected for the Semi-Finals each Qualifier Week. A total of nine winners will move onto the Semi-Finals, with three winners per Region. Below are the scoring parameters which will be used to determine the winners:
- Boss Health: Amount of Hit Points (HP) remaining on the Boss when the fight concludes
- Hits Taken: The Number of unblocked hits the Attacker received throughout the fight
- Fight Duration: Total duration of the Fight, measured in Minutes and Seconds
- Damage Per Second: Total damage the Attacker dealt to the Boss, divided by the duration of the fight in seconds
For this difficulty, you will only be allowed to bring in ONE Champion to take down each week’s Boss, with each of your fights recorded on your region’s leaderboard. We will be updating our leaderboard (located on summonershowdown.com) regularly so that you can keep up to date with who is leading the charge for each Qualifier Week.
Each week, you’ll have a maximum of 35 attempts to post your best score, so make your fights count! Each Fight will have a 10-minute time limit
Keep your eyes peeled on summonershowdown.com with updates to the leaderboard, as all potential winners will be contacted closer to the end of each Qualifier Round via an in-game message (this message does not guarantee a spot in the Semi-Finals). All potential winners will be asked to fill out a survey with essential information needed to move on to the Semi-Finals. If you do not respond within 24 hours of receiving the message, this may result in moving down the leaderboard to find the Summoner to advance in the Semi-Finals.
Note: All potential Semi-Finalists will be subject to a background check by both Marvel and Kabam before being selected to participate in the tournament. Players who advance to the Semi-Finals will be expected to be available for filming from August 2nd to October 31st. See Official Rules for full details
Silver and Bronze Difficulties
Participate and fight the Bosses for fun!
If you’re not ready to compete for Gold, feel free to try the Silver and Bronze Difficulties, which are open to all Summoners, no matter your progression or level! These difficulties will be toned down challenges against the same fearsome Bosses.
You’ll be able to use a team of five Champions with the ability to use boosts and consumables, so take advantage of all of the tools at your disposal to defeat your opponent! Keep in mind that participating in the Silver difficulty is restricted to 4-Star Champions, and the Bronze Difficulty is restricted to 3-Star Champions.
Scores completed in this difficulty will not be entered into the leaderboard and/or the official Summoner Showdown. We encourage all Summoners to use the Silver and Bronze Difficulties to try some challenging content.

Filming Dates for Semi-Finals will be between August to the end of October to shoot content for Summoner Showdown.

|Americas||Europe and Russia||Asia and Oceania|
Canada (excluding Quebec)
United States (excluding Hawaii, Alaska)
Note: If you are selected as a Semi-Finalist in any Qualifier Week, you will not be eligible to be selected as a Semi-Finalist in the following Qualifier Weeks. For example, if you are selected as a Semi-Finalist in Qualifier Week 1, you will not be eligible to be chosen again in Qualifier Week 2.
What Comes Next…
Once the top 3 players from each region (Americas, Europe & Russia, Asia & Oceania) have been selected, they will move on to compete in a special tournament putting their brains and thumbs to the test. The structure of the tournament will be similar to Summoner Showdown 2020. Why can’t I use boosts and potions in the Summoner Showdown Qualifiers? Why can’t I use 6-Star Champions? Why is the Gold difficulty restricted to Level 60 / Thronebreaker Summoners? Why is there a 35x Entry Limit per week?
In the spirit of competition, our vision is to create the most fair version of Summoner Showdown, where players are rewarded for their diverse roster of Champions and have played through the most difficult content that The Battlerealm has to offer.
We understand that the toughest Summoners in The Contest will have built out a fairly large pool of 5-Star Champions, and have proven that they have completed our most challenging story content. We also want to ensure that every player has an equal number of chances to put up a score on the leaderboard, which is why we’ve introduced a 35x entry limit
Why isn’t my country eligible to compete in Summoner Showdown?
Due to competition laws and shipping feasibility in certain regions, some countries are not able to compete in the Gold Difficulty.
Do I have to be filmed and recorded to participate in the Semi-Finals and Finals?
Yes! For the Semi-Finals and Finals, we want to give Summoners a chance to take the Spotlight for their dedication to The Contest. As a result, we’ll be filming the Top 9 Summoners in an epic tournament, which will air on Marvel Contest of Champions’ social media channels and blog. Filming Dates for the Semi-Finals/Finals will be between August to October.
Where will leaderboards be updated?
Summoner Showdown Leaderboards will be updated on summonershowdown.com. Make sure to toggle between the different regions to see where you stand!
Will these quests cost energy?
No, the Summoner Showdown (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) quests will require no energy to play through. However, Summoners will be limited to 35 attempts at the Gold Difficulty each round, so make sure to make each fight count!
Where can I find the Summoner Showdown quest in-game?
The Summoner Showdown Qualifier Quests will be visible on the main Fight! Screen under its own banner.
Where can I find more information about the Bosses?
We’ll be releasing Buff Profiles of this year’s Summoner Showdown Bosses before the Qualifier weeks begin! Follow our social channels to get the latest updates!
Will we be going to Marvel’s Studio in New York again?
Due to the global climate of COVID-19, Kabam will not plan any in-person events for Summoner Showdown 2021.
How old do I need to be to compete in Summoner Showdown?
To compete in Summoner Showdown (under the Gold Difficulty) you must be above the age of majority in your place of residence.
