Mastering The Six MCoC Classes

Why are there different Classes in Marvel Contest of Champions, and more importantly, why are they vital to understand?

Classes are how each Champion is categorized in MCoC. Each Champion’s Class is determined by their Marvel lore, backstory, and abilities.

There is a basic Class framework that allows us to keep our designs consistent. When you see a Champion of a certain Class, you have an idea of what kind of abilities, effects, and challenges to expect. When you’re building your team to tackle content in MCoC, knowing which Champion and choosing the right one for the fight is essential.

When creating and designing a Champion, we try to avoid giving them an ability that isn’t a part of their Class. This is important, because unexpected abilities can lead to  inconsistent gameplay, or cases where a Champion does not fit in with the traditional strengths and weaknesses of their Class.

There are, and always will be, many exceptions to this rule, because Marvel lore takes precedence over Class relationships. However, it is a guideline we try to stick to on the Champion Design team.
