With first round of the 2020 Summoner Showdown Semi-Finals complete last week, it is time for the next round!
With the introduction of the 2020 Summoner Showdown came new rules for the Semi-Finals and Finals, including a Picks & Bans phase where players would have the opportunity to ban Champions from being used as an Attacker or a Defender.
Throughout the series between AngerDanger, Apdo and Satsui No Hadou – not only were there common picks and bans consistent with the Defender Tactics (Mojo, Killmonger, Sasquatch, Dormammu didn’t see any showtime) – there were some unfavorable matchups that turned into masterclass Champion showcases.
The Asia/Oceania Semi-Finals proved to have matches that ranged from nail biters that were determined by amount of time the match took, because both fights were taken to K.O. and no hits were taken – to nearly impossible to win matchups like Nick Fury vs. Elsa Bloodstone. There were unexpected matchups that became incredible skill demonstrations – Guilly 2099 versus Vision Aarkus, and Guilly 2099 versus Annihilus as examples, and it made one thing clear. The Picks and Bans phase was what determined the victor.
When all the matches were finished – with two Quake showcases against Iron Man Infinity War and Tigra, it’s no surprise that AngerDanger was able to advance to the Finals of the 2020 Summoner Showdown!
